This week’s email newsletter articles are:
- A Major Redesign at my Terry’s Computer Tips Web Site
In last week’s email newsletter, I mentioned that I was hard at work on a major redesign of my Terry’s Computer Tips web site.
After uncounted hours — somewhere in the 80-100 range — I’ve finally finished the conversion of my hand-coded, individual-page-based Terry’s Computer Tips web page to a database-based system.
Do You Still Use Outlook Express?
If you do, stop right now (come back later and finish reading my newsletter) and compact your Outlook Express email folders.
- This Week On-Line
This week online:
- The online newsletter issue is now a thing of the past, although all the old online newsletters are still available.
Instead of posting a separate online newsletter and then, later, posting the articles into individual web pages (now WordPress postings), I will post new articles directly to the Terry’s Computer Tips web site system (WordPress plus the Genesis Theme Framework).
One major difference is that this section of my email newsletter will now link directly to the individual online articles.
For those people who were using the site’s RSS feed, that feed is now gone, but its replaced by three separate RSS feeds: one for the postings, one for comments, and one for comments on the individual article you’re viewing. Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer 8 will show you the individual feeds.
- Old Online Newsletters Still Available
My old Terry’s Computer Tips online newsletters (last week’s August 29, 2010 issue and 5+ years of earlier issues) are still available — here. They’re still in the old newsletter format.
At this time, I plan to convert the newsletters from individual HTML+PHP newsletter pages to WordPress pages when I get a chance — of course, that’s 5+ years of weekly issues, some split into multiple pages. It’s a bunch of files…but nothing like the 1000+ files I had to redo for the conversion to the new site.
My Computer Security Recommendations
My recommendations for anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, anti-spam software, system control software and backup software.
I’ve also included my recommendations for wired and wireless routers, as well as add-on USB Wireless-N adapters.
This week’s email newsletter is now available:
