My clone desktop has three hard drives in it: the C drive for the OS and programs, a second ATA drive for data, music and pics, and a third SATA drive which is a redundant backup to the second drive.
I went into windows explorer to see the drives and look for some files and the entire second hard drive is no longer listed! I am running Windows 7 Pro. It is missing in device manager as well. It appears as though there are only two drives in my computer. If the second drive has failed, wouldn’t it still show?
What do you recommend I do to recover the second hard drive?
I wrote back to Greg to suggest that he check the power connection on the drive. Especially if you’ve had the case open, it’s easy to dislodge the power connection or to forget to reconnect it.
I’m guessing that you had recently opened your case to make some kind of change. Whether you disconnected the power cable intentionally, or bumped it loose accidentally, I know that it’s all too easy to close up the case without reconnecting the drive cable. Been there, done that…
