After last week’s article regarding the Windows 7 Snipping Tool, subscriber Delmer Tegarden wrote seeking help:
Just read your latest newsletter; fascinated with the article on the Snipping Tool. I DO NOT HAVE IT.
Followed your instructions to the letter, but it is just not there. Googled “Missing Snipping Tool” and found all kinds of things…..Said make sure under Control Panel, Programs, Turn On/Off Windows Services that Table PC was turned on.
It was; but I turned it off; restarted pc as requested; turned it on; restarted pc again.
Still no Snipping Tool. What gives?
I wrote back to Delmer to suggest that he check to see if the actual executable file was installed. He should find it at
I told him that once he found it, he could create a shortcut for it on his Desktop. From the Desktop, you can copy the shortcut into the Start Programs menu.
COpy a shortcut from the Desktop into the Start Programs menu by right-click-and-dragging the shortcut over the Windows Orb, then over All Programs, then into the folder you want.
This trick also works with folders, so you an get the All Programs list more organized.
I suspected that he (or the system manufacturer) may chosen not to install the Tablet PC Components. Based on the comments I found by Googling the subject, the Snipping Tool appears to be part of the Tablet PC Components.
Fortunately, Del got lucky — it was there. He wrote back to report:
Thanks so much. Worked like a charm!
