Saving Money on Computer Memory

Whether you are buying a new computer or wanting to expand an old one, desktop or notebook, additional memory is one of the cheapest and easiest upgrades you can do.

Tech Tip
If you're buying a new computer, memory is often one of the highest-priced add-on options that manufacturers offer — usually much higher than the market price for the memeory. Adding memory to your computer is an easy upgrade.

Sites like Crucial Technology, from whom I buy my computers' memory, offer easy to use wizards to find the right memory for your particular computer.

When you look up your computer in their system, Crucial will tell you which memory modules your computer can use, how many memory slots the computer has, the maximum memory amount for each slot, and the standard memory configuration (as normally delivered).

That's not enough -- they have install guides to tell you how to install memory in computers. Your manual for your computer also probably has this information (hint: most manufacturers have their computer manuals available for download from their web sites).

Need a little more help, you can even "Live Chat with an expert."

Of course, they also have an easy ordering process.

These are all the "gravy" reasons why I choose memory from Crucial Technology. My #1 reason for choosing Crucial Technology for my own computers is the reliability of their memory.

Read more articles like this on my Computer for Christmas blog. In that blog, and in the related Computer for Christmas web site, I'm writing articles with buying tips and, of course, security tips for the new computers.
