I have just downloaded Foxit Reader because I was having problems with CPU usage slowing down and sometimes locking things up completely.
I downloaded Foxit after having read your article about Adobe version 8, I was using version 9 and wondered if this was giving me the same problem that you described.
Now that I have downloaded Foxit Reader can I safely uninstall my Adobe 9 ?
Yes, at this point, Roger can uninstall Adobe Reader 9, or he can let them co-exist. His choice. The last one installed will be used by your web browsers for opening documents and will be the default application in Windows, too.
You can use the Right-Click & Open With… option in Windows to open a PDF file with either program, and use that dialog box to set the default for double-clicking.
Or, you can open an individual document by using Foxit’s or Adobe’s File/Open function.
