I had previously purchased a similar Jadaol® 50-foot Cat 6 flat Ethernet cable and found it very helpful and visually unobtrusive in my den. I was delighted to receive an offer from Jadaol for a 75-foot white Cat 6 flat Ethernet cable at no charge, in return for a non-biased review on Amazon.com.
The cable itself comes coiled in a flat package. The cable feels well made, with standard RJ-45 Ethernet connectors on both ends, including strain-relief (connector attaching to cable to prevent wire damage in the RJ45 connector) and a snag-less feature (to prevent the RJ45 release lever from catching on other cables when you try to remove the cable). Jadaol included mounting clips for the flat cable, designed to be hammered into wall baseboard. The clips fit nicely on the cable and did not crimp the cable when used.
Initially, I uncoiled a few feet of cable in order to make sure that the cable worked properly. I disconnected my notebook from its usual Ethernet cable, connected the new flat cable, and then connected the flat cable to a Gigabit Ethernet switch. All was well. The notebook connected through the cable and switch to the router, got an IP address, and could access, and be accessed, from other computers on my home network, as well as accessing Internet web sites.
The big test, which would have been a failure on my part (not Jadaol’s) if it had not worked, was to run the new flat cable from the switch, though an open metal-framed window, along the wall of my back porch, into a bedroom by going under a door, and hook it to a home theater PC that was previously operating via wireless 802.11ac. It worked, even when I closed and latched the metal-framed window. I was afraid that the metal window might damage the cable, but it still works!
In the den, using a flat cable made the cable less visually apparent and made the wife happier. For my "den to porch to bedroom" project, the flat cable made it possible. Thanks, Jadaol!
Disclosure: Amazon.com discontinued their associate/affiliate program in Louisiana because the state would have required them pay taxes and to collect sales taxes. Therefore, I am no longer an affiliate/associate of Amazon.com and do not receive any compensation for purchases of Amazon products via links from my site. I received this cable for free from Jadaol in return for a commitment to post a review at Amazon.com, without any offer, request or suggestion that I include it in my newsletter or web site. I like the cable.
