Subscriber Luanne Scholten wrote to ask about receiving multiple copies of emails:
I’ve been receiving emails that are duplicates & sometimes triplicates. I have a Dell XP, w/ MS Outlook Express.
What can I do to stop this…it’s annoying.
I enjoy your newsletter & have just signed up for it to come regularly. Thanks, Luanne S.
If you’re receiving multiple copies of some emails, one of several hings may be happening:
1) the person who sends them may have a communications problem between them and their mailserver. Their email program sends the email, then their email server says “I go it.” If the return communication bobbles, their mail program may send the email again automatically. This happens occasionally with dialup access.
2) the person sending the message may send it again, thinking it hasn’t been sent before.
3) your Internet connection may have communication problems, similar to #1 above.
4) you may have set up multiple email “user accounts” in outlook express. If you did, you might have created them to access the same account, but set one or more to “leave messages on the server.” You can check this under Tools, Options in Outlook Express.
