Mobipocket Reader – Read eBooks on your PC, PDA and Smartphone

One of my "Killer Apps" for my Smartphone is Mobipocket Reader. I’m an avid reader of ebooks, mostly science fiction. I’ve bought several hardback books from Baen Books that have included CDROMs of a lot of their books in HTML, text and PDB format for easy reading.

If you’re a science fiction fan, check out www.baen.com and their “webscription” service. They’ve got a lot of ebooks available for free via baen.com. The webscription service even enables you to buy a “subscription” to ebooks that are to be released in the next couple months — and get complete copies when they’re released, too. Older releases are available, also.

My favorite way to read ebooks is via my PDA, which is usually in my pocket. My ebook reader of choice is Mobipocket Reader

Program: Mobipocket Reader
Category: Ebook Reader
Operating Systems: Windows, PalmOS, Windows Mobile (PocketPC & Smartphone), Symbian OS, and Blackberry
Price: Free
Source: www.mobipocket.com

Installation is easy. You download the single Mobipocket Reader file for Windows, which include versions for the PDAs and Smartphones. When you plug in the PDA or smartphone, Windows recognizes that its there and installs the corresponding version of Mobipocket Reader.

This installation was extremely well done.

After installing Mobipocket Reader for Windows, you can read ebooks in the Reader on your PC. You can also transfer ebooks to your PDA (the method depends on what type of PDA or Smartphone you have) and read them there.
