Marilyn Stenning wrote recently to ask how to get links in her emails to work. Her email program kept giving an error message when she clicks on a link in an email.
Whenever I click on a link in any email a message now appears:
"This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator".
I couldn’t understand why this was suddenly happening.
However, after I posted this question on your website I briefly saw that someone had left a comment that they had the same problem after they had installed and reinstalled Google Chrome.
This problem has just occurred after I did the same.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find how she solved the problem.
Can you help please?
Thanks a lot.
I referred Marilyn to a series of articles that I’ve written on Outlook. She can find them on my site by hovering over the Email link in the site menu, and then selecting Outlook from the "fly-out" menu.
I also gave her a direct link to those articles: http://www.terryscomputertips.com/category/email/outlook/.
The first article Outlook Refuses to Open Email Links looks like the same problem she had – the error was certainly the same.
Another related article is Email Links Don’t Work in Outlook 2007.
I also pointed out that the “Use Google to Search Terry’s Computer Tips” search bar on my site is a great tool for finding answers.
It searches all my articles, using the standard Google search qualifiers. There’s also a WordPress-based search bar, but the special Google search bar is much more effective in focusing on the answer.
