Google offers their Picasa photo organizer software as a separate download or as part of the Google Pack.
You don’t have to download the full Google Pack to get Picasa, although you could. The Google Pack includes multiple programs and you can install only those that you desire to install.

Picasa automatically locates all the pictures on your computer and sorts them into visual albums. Then, you can drag and drop to move pictures or make new albums.
Picasa also makes it very easy to share your pictures via email, printing, CDs or on the web.
