If you have searched on Google during the 2006 Torino Olympics, or during almost any holiday season, you have probably noticed their special Google logos. Google had a different logo for almost every day, which focused on the events of the day.
These special logos are known as Google Doodles and Google has been doing them for several years. Of course, you can search Google to find “Google Doodles” or “Google’s Doodles”, but they probably won’t lead you anywhere that you can use to see them all.
I say “probably” because I created a Google Doodles web page that links to the doodles on Google’s site (Google allows that, but does not allow others to display the Google doodle logos. If you visit my Google doodles page, you should be able to see them all.
My page got a lot of visitors during the Olympics. I finally Googled for “Google Doodles” and found that my page was 4th in the list. If I Googled for “Google’s Doodles” I was 3rd.
These search results varied somewhat. Sometimes, I would show up about #41 for Google doodles; other times 4th. At first, I noticed that I showed up 4th when I was logged in to Google, but not when I wasn’t. However, it wasn’t that simple – a friend also saw my page listed up at #3 or #4 — right behind Google’s own pages.
I’m coming to the conclusion that it is an effect of the multiple search centers that Google runs. Whatever, it was a real shock for my Google Doodles page to show up that high.
