Subscriber Carolyn wrote for help reconfiguring her web browser. unfortunately, she left out a critical piece of information — namely, which web browser she was using…
Terry, I hate to bother you but I have a question.
I somehow messed up my favorites bar and now when I click on to my Favorites, the favorites bar as at the bottom of my list rather than at the top.
I want it back on top but don’t know how to get it there. I have Windows 7. Can you help me?
I wrote back to Carolyn to say that I didn’t understand the question. I asked her to send me an image of the browser window that showed the problem.
She did — Carolyn sent me an image of part of her screen showing the problem. Unfortunately, it didn’t show the top of the Windows or the menu bar, so there wasn’t enough to positively identify the web browser she was using.
I had to guess at that point, keying on the term "Favorites" that she used.
I wrote back to her that I was guessing that she was using Internet Explorer 9. In that case, she would need to:
- press and release Alt to see the menu bar
- click on Favorites
- click on Organize Favorites
- drag the Favorites Bar entry to the top of the list
Carolyn wrote back to report success:
I now have it on top where it belongs — Thanks, Terry. Wish I had your computer smarts.
I guess at 73 I am doing good to even try!!
