Wow, you're right, Ron. I just checked the site and the program looks pretty good. I haven't tried it yet. That may be a project for this week.
Dimension 4 v5.0 is provided as Freeware for private use (use at home), educational use (by schools and universities), and use by charitable organizations. Commercial licenses are only $10 per computer.
Back to "why synchronize your computer with the NIST?" Most of the time, your computer will keep excellent time. The exceptions are (1) when your CMOS battery is getting weak and (2) when you need to have absolute accuracy.
You might want the accuracy if you are keeping logs of system activity or web server access. In my case, I have a home theater PC that I need to keep synchronized. If the time slides faster or slower than the official time, my TV show recordings may miss the beginning of a show. Or worse, miss the end!
Even if you don't have time-critical events, this is your opportunity to have at least one clock in your house that is really correct.
