Subscriber Allan Pendlebury wrote with a problem when reading emails in Thunderbird:
Windows 7. Thunderbird 3.1.4. Firefox 3.6.10.
All of a sudden links in Thunderbird don’t open a default Firefox browser. I’ve googled and while there are similar complaints; nothing recent. I don’t recall changing anything and while I could revert to a point where it was working I would like to know how to repair it as i have seen it happen before.
I can right click; copy and paste the link into Firefox, but that’s it.
Shortly afterward, he wrote back to say he had solved the problem:
Found the answer Terry. Somehow FF became not the default browser; made it default and all OK.
I wrote back to Allan to tell him that I’ve seen some similar problems with Firefox being knocked out of the "default web browser" status. It seems to have happened right after I ran some monthly Microsoft Updates.
I wonder why…
