Site visitor Joseph Mitzi wrote to ask about a Firefox problem he was having:
When I open Firefox I get a message telling me that “mozallac.dll” is missing. I tried uninstall and reinstalled Firefox. Problem still there. How do I download this missing file?
I wrote back to Joseph to tell him that I had not into that problem.
I did a quick Google search for mozallac.dll, and found that it appears to be a misspelling of "mozalloc.dll"
A small number of people were reporting that error on Mozilla’s Firefox support forums:
at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/750268. However, there was no fix reported.
Several Google results indicate it may be a malware file — but those also seem to be sites with a vested interest in you purchasing their "fix."
I suspect that the problem is related to one of the FIrefox Add-on’s that Joseph has installed.
I suggested that he make a list of the Add-on’s installed. Then, he can uninstall them one-by-one, exiting Firefox and restarting Firefox that same way each time.
If it is an add-on problem, then that should help you identify the add-on with the problem.
Whether it’s a problem that would be resolved by reinstalling the latest version of that add-on, or whether he’ll have to skip that add-on until it’s updated, there’s no way to know without trying.
