Subscriber John in Dallas wrote to ask about a problem he was having with fonts in his Thunderbird email program:
Hello – Terry
I know you are a thunderbird user, as I, from the beginning.. How do I keep my selected font in emails?
I’ve done everything I can think of…NOTHING on TB’s site or in the forums??
I’ve just d/l the current version; still won’t keep my fonts and colors. Though, I’ve made those selections in options?
Thanks for your input. Look forward to more tips, there’s always something I enjoy and can use.
John in Dallas.
I wrote back to John, guessing that he was changing the font in an individual email message. Unfortunately, that only addresses it for that particular message.
In order to make the changes in a way that Thunderbird will remember them, in the main Thunderbird window, click on Tools on the menu bar, then on Options.
Click the 3rd icon "Composition" and pick its General tab.
That’s where you can pick your choice of font, size, text color and background color.
Don’t forget to check the next section on that tab "Configure text format behavior" — the button is labelled "Send Options…"
Thanks — Terry,
I have done that in options, select my choices. TB completely ignores it all !~!
I don’t know where else to check or fix….I finally found a way to use my signature, now I’d like to use these fonts.
Thanks for suggestions.
I wrote back to John, noting that it works for me (as he should be able to see — my new font setting carried into that email). Note that the signature has its own, separate font settings — these will not be overridden by the setting for the email message.
Well, I found the trick!! Go to options-display-advanced – uncheck box ( allow other fonts in use ) the first box..That will turn ALL emails into the selected font…I don’t mind that… and will keep my fonts in sending emails.
